Since 1993, the non-profit Wyland Foundation has inspired millions of people around the world to become caring, informed stewards of our ocean and waterways.

The Alewife Cove Conservancy was founded by a concerned group of local community members committed to preserving the ecosystem at Alewife Cove in New London/Waterford.

It was inevitable that we would connect to help each other in our shared mission of saving our precious waterways.

Wyland has returned to New London to create a fabulous new mural!  Check out our Wyland Page and see the dedication of the mural delivered by our founder and co-chairman, Edward Lamoureux, watch a time lapse video of the mural's creation, and learn more about the artist named Wyland!

Our Mission:

Who We Are

Community members from the region have long been concerned with the health of Alewife Cove. In 2016 a group established the Alewife Cove Conservancy (ACC) as an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our focus was on preserving the ecosystem, particularly in light of the need for dredging and removal of a dam that impedes the spawning of the alewife. In addition, the use of the Cove by residents of all ages, especially students, is a core aspect of our mission. We have a growing membership.
